Monthly Meetings with the Grand Rapids Region Writers Group

January 2026 Meeting Saturday January 10

N.J. Mastro is a historical fiction writer and a book blogger who publishes Herstory Revisited, where she reviews biographical novels about audacious women from the past. A former school superintendent, she has a master’s degree and a doctorate in educational leadership and turned to writing fiction in retirement. Besides being an experienced public speaker, Mastro is also an avid reader, master cook, and wine enthusiast. Originally from Minnesota, she and her husband live in South Carolina. She has one grown son.

Embellish Handbells

Embellish Auditions 2026

January 13 @ 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Information for Embellish Auditions 2026:

· Embellish is a high-level handbell ensemble who rings level 3/4/5 pieces with precision and musicality. Embellish rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7pm-9:30pm. It is expected that ringers will spend time outside of practice reviewing their music as well. 

· Auditions will take place (by appointment only) on Tuesday, January 13th. Please fill out the below form if you are interested in auditioning, and our music director Brenda Austin will be in touch!

· Embellish’s season runs from January through December, with a “summer break” June-August. A rough draft of the season calendar may be found on our website

· Embellish members are asked to pay $150 in dues each season.*

The Cedar Springs Community Junior Players Winter Showcase!

Open to all students grades 1-12

Everyone will receive a role

Performers will be grouped into 2 different tracts based on grade

$30 participation fee

Showcase will take place at the Kent Theatre on Saturday March 7th at 3 pm 

Showcase admission is free for all friends and family

Registration Deadline is January 18, 2026.

The Flat River Community Players invite you all to our

Annual Meeting on February 7, 2026.

Located at the Greenville Public Library from 1:00 pm - close.

Our next show, The Musical Comedy Murders of the 1940's 

directed by Linda Custer and Doug Stek, will be in the Spring.

The Cedar Springs Community Players will be presenting

their 8th Annual One Act Festival with 6 short plays in one night!

Shows are at the Cedar Springs Kent Theatre on

March 6 & 7 at 7 pm with a matinee on Sunday March 8 at 3 pm.

The West Michigan Arts Council believes the arts should be accessible for all including

Veterans/Active-Duty military, EBT cardholders, Seniors +55 and PreK-12 students.

Currently the WMAC hosts four (4) annual events. Three of these are free admission.

The fourth is our annual Dinner Show fundraising event.

Tickets to this event for the groups listed above are discounted on request.
